October is Virginia’s Wine Month
(VIRGINIA) – Virginia wants to uncork some wine, and they are
hoping you are interested in coming by to celebrate. With more
than 100 wineries now in the state, Virginia is officially recognizing
the positive impact the wine business has on its economy and
tourism.
For the month of October wineries across the state are holding
festivals and events to celebrate Wine Month. It is no coincidence,
of course, that the timing coincides with nature’s spectacular
fall foliage show which is also an immensely popular time to
visit.
Wine Month Highlights (2006):
AmRien Winery’s Oktoberfest – October 7, 2006
Virginia Wine & Garlic
Festival, Rebec Vineyard – October 14-15, 2006
Shenandoah Valley
Hot Air Balloon & Wine Festival – October
20-22, 2006
Powhatan’s Festival of the Grape – October 28, 2006
This year you can enter to win a trip to Wine Camp weekend at
Lansdowne Resort. One winner will receive a weekend for two at
the resort, a wine pairing seminar, and directions for a driving
tour of nearby wineries with a picnic lunch basket already packed.

“Visiting a Virginia winery is not just about the wine, it’s
about the experience,” said Ann Heidig, president of the Virginia
Wine Association. “You don’t need to be an expert in wine to
come out and enjoy yourself while tasting Virginia wine in beautiful
settings across the state.”
